Franprix deploys France’s first 100% electric 26-tonne truck

Franprix adopts and integrates to its delivery vehicles fleet the first 100% electric 26-tonne truck in France. Very quiet and non-polluting, this truck will ensure the daily delivery of fresh products, fruits and vegetables in a dozen Franprix stores in the very heart of Paris.

This new electrical solution is part of the pioneering approach initiated by this Casino Group banner 10 years ago in order to reduce pollution and address the difficulties experienced in transporting goods to the capital by road (traffic jams, delays or late deliveries).

This new electric truck completes the sustainable logistics channels already set up by the banner for the delivery of its groceries in its Parisian stores. Since 2012, Franprix has been the first food retailer to deliver more than 300 stores by river to the heart of Paris. And 40% of its fleet has already been replaced by natural gas vehicles.

We were looking for a sustainable mode of transportation for the delivery of our fresh products, beyond the gradual replacement of our fleet with natural gas trucks. This solution allows Franprix to remain a pioneer in terms of responsible delivery and take another step in reducing its carbon footprint and pollution in the Ile-de-France area.
Christian Bens, Logistics Director of Franprix

The banner thus relied on the expertise of both the manufacturer MAN Truck-Bus France and the carrier Jacky Perrenot, who is one of the leading companies in the freight transport market and historical partner of the Casino Group.
