As a responsible consumption pioneer in Brazil, Pão de Açúcar announced the official opening of a first store under new banner “Pão de Açúcar Fresh” in São Paulo. This new store, dedicated to responsible consumption, will cater for the new consumption patterns of Brazilian people. A further 15 to 20 stores are expected to open by end of 2022.
Casino Group and GPA have just inaugurated in São Paulo the first “Pão de Açúcar Fresh” store, a new outlet dedicated to responsible consumption. The store is housed in a 450 sqm space where customers can find a great number of fresh, organic and local products. Nearly 5,500 different products are on display in a warm and modern setting.
Beyond fruits and vegetables, “Pão de Açúcar Fresh” promotes local handicrafts and catering trades such as butchery, deli counter, cheese counter, fish counter and even a bakery. The store employs 80 staff.
“With Pão de Açúcar Fresh, GPA and Casino Group developed a new model of stores specializing in healthy and responsible food. With this store, we want to meet the expectations and needs of all our consumers.”
Frédéric Garcia, Executive Director of Pão de Açúcar.
The launch of this new banner is the result of a study carried out on the best practices implemented by Casino group’s banners in France and Latin America, starting with Fresh Market in Uruguay and Carulla Fresh Market in Colombia.
What’s more, “Pão de Açúcar Fresh” is also developing a sustainable home delivery service, using bicycles to deliver customers at home.
Casino Group and GPA plan to open 15 to 20 new “Pão de Açúcar Fresh” stores by the end of 2022, including a new one before end 2021.
